Networking your Computers
Networking your computers has many benefits and can
save you time and money.
To start with you will need two computers – connect your
old computer up to the new one. Then two people can use the resources, being
productive, using less hardware.
 | You
will be able to share your printer with all pc’s on the network. There
will be no need to save your document to a disk and then go to the computer
with the printer and print from there. You don’t need to buy a second
printer when one can do the job. |
 | One
Internet connection shared between both computers. You only need one modem,
one Internet account and one phone line, the second computer will share the
Internet connection over the network. Now you are able to browse the
Internet while the second computer is also logged on and browsing. |
 | You
need extra storage space on your computer, but don’t want to buy another
hard drive. Simply use some spare space on one of the drives on another
computer that is connected to the network. Data on all the computers can
also be shared, so as not to have to duplicate it over again. |
To network your computers together all you will need is an
inexpensive network card in each computer and a network cable connecting the
two. If you have more than one computer to connect to the network then a hub
will be needed.
Connecting your computers up to share resources in a
network is inexpensive and is beneficial whether it be at home or at the office.
